The Beacon Melamine Plate Kit is a competitive ELISA test for the quantitative analysis of melamine in infant formula, milk, milk powder, feed, meat, fish, and other food samples.
Melamine is a nitrogen rich compound with many industrial applications. It is also sometimes illegally added to food and dairy products to increase their apparent protein content, as certain tests estimate protein levels by measuring nitrogen content. If ingested in high concentrations, melamine can lead to health problems, including renal failure.
